Maureen Hubbard Cribbs is a painter and printmaker who creates uniquely original paintings and very small edition prints, mainly handcut and printed woodcuts. Her work has its own poetic sensibility and is infused with her personal sense of color and space.
Her art career has been lifelong, and while making art herself she has taught art at all grade levels, most recently at Robert Morris University, Governors State University, and Chicago State University.
She was graduated from DePauw University with a BA, and has an MA from Governors State University. She has studied at The Art Institute of Chicago and the OxBow School of Art at Saugatuck, Michigan. At Governors State she specialized in painting, then printmaking where she studied with John Payne [painting] and Mary Bookwalter [printmaking]. She followed that to study with Karen Kunc [printmaking] [University of Kansas] at the Santa Reparata Graphic Art Center in Florence, Italy.
Her work is in many collections here and abroad and in permanent collections: Amity Foundation, Woodbridge, Connecticut, and Navested Cultural Center and Museum Of Denmark [prints].
She has had many showings of her work, both solo and group as well as invitational.
She is a member of the Mid America Print Council.
