Artist's Statement

Maureen Hubbard Cribbs

In whatever I create, I find my expression moving between conscious and intuitive concerns. The very activity of art making has been a life’s work; for me it’s among the highest ranking efforts of my position here on earth at this time. It follows that the resultant art piece bears much of what I am as a human being.

Pragmatically speaking, I’ve given myself permission to synthesize my deep love of nature and living with my emotional commitment to honest personal expression. My work: ditto, thus the resultant products, experimental, abstract, realistic [somewhat], surreal [somewhat].

Time moves on, and what I’ve just said is where I am right now. I dare to align my-self with Hokusai, and boldly assert as I misquote his “Old Man Mad About Painting” That I am “Woman Mad About Painting and Printmaking”!
